From 1st September 2016, the requirements in the EYFS is that for newly qualified early years staff

(with full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification) to also hold a current Paediatric First Aid (PFA) or emergency (PFA) certificate in order to be included in the required staff:child ratios in an early years setting. Childcare providers will be allowed a three month ‘grace’ period to complete PFA training after starting work with a new employer.
The Six Hour Paediatric First Aid qualification is suitable for those working at level two and below who are included in a settings ratio's and non-teaching staff who have daily contact with children.
This course offers basic understanding of how best to deal with a range of emergency situations.
Course contents includes:
· planning for and dealing with a range of emergencies
· basic life support in children
· wounds and bleeding
· burns and scalds
· dealing with a choking casualty
· suspected fractures
· foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
· eye injuries
· bites and stings
· emergency needs of chronic medical conditions
This course is also suitable for parents/carers and grandparents
