Thursday 30th November 2017 9:30 am - 12::30 pm

This course will discuss the reasons for display in early years settings, which can be many and varied, and will reflect on the overall ethos of your setting. Do you display purely to make the building look good, or do you actively display not just the products of the children’s imaginative learning but the processes too? With a little bit of thought your displays areas, whatever their extent, can become a valuable, interactive part of the learning process. The EYFS highlights the need for child-centred, child-led learning and emphasises the importance of enabling your environment to enhance and support the learning process. The course will look at how to empower children and to involve them in decision- making processes. What better way to deliver both than through your display? Displaying children’s work lets them know you value it – and them.
Course content will :
  • Understand how child led displays and documenting children’s’ work clarify the significance of creativity in a child’s development.
  • Understand the connections between play, the environment and the learning process.
  • Explore different ideas for evidencing children’s learning to add meaning to what they create.
Explore standards of quality in relation to displays in your setting.
