This course provides the opportunity for practitioners to explore why some children bite. It can be very challenging and confusing for all involved when supporting a child who uses biting to communicate their thoughts and feelings. This course will provide a series of strategies to support the practitioner to begin to understand why a child is biting. With this information the practitioner can then begin to offer appropriate support.
The course will:
Feedback from previous delegates:
- Examine child development.
- Consider what is the child trying to tell us?
- Explore our own fellings around the issue of biting.
- Discuss how you can support the children, parents and practitioners in your setting.
"I feel more able to discuss with my team ways in which we can support children who are biting. The leaflets and guidelines for parents are very useful. The resource pack will help us to be more confident when supporting children who are biting."
